Speaker: Brian Eilts
Topic: Demolition Risks
The risks associated with demolition are high due to the hazardous that are unknown. These unknowns can result from construction changes or additions to a facility over the years or decades that were not properly document or structural degradation that can take place in areas that can’t be seen from the naked eye or from demolition contractors that are not properly training or have the skill set needed for task at hand. These risks can be exasperated if the project team or project stake holders don’t have the proper mindset i.e. “it’s only demolition, no big deal, just tear it down.” This presentation will take the group through an actual demolition project of the tallest structure in Oconee County, South Carolina and the steps taken to minimize and mitigate these unknowns.
